The Writer
I write fiction and essays that explore the quiet dramas of everyday life—the moments of connection and disconnection that define who we are.
My work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Paris Review, Granta, and Harper's, among other publications. My debut novel won the PEN/Faulkner Award and was a finalist for the National Book Award.
I hold an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop and currently teach creative writing at Columbia University. I live in Brooklyn with my family and an unreasonable number of books.
